We can agree that cooking in the summer heat is sweat-inducing, ‘where is the nearest pool’ obsessing, and in general our least favorite activity. Which is why smoothies are so satisfying.
Flip the script and instead of “cooking”, this summer we’re assembling and blending. That includes breakfast, and while we’re making breakfast smoothies we may as well make it a treat too.
It’s going to be a scorcher, let’s drink our apple pie first.
Jump to RecipeOne blender, endless combinations for refreshing meals. Instead of cranking the fan to combat the extra heat from the kitchen, we’re spending our time chasing beach trips, river floats, and any place with decent AC (hello Target, hello Barnes and Noble).
Of all the blender recipes on our list, this one stands out. Taking the classic July 4th dessert of apple pie and turning it into a blender meal that’ll give you the sweet kick you’re craving, while delivering on a whole lot of nutrients.
Chia seeds are an underrated superstar for smoothies. No need to pre-soak before using, you can add straight to any smoothie. These tiny seeds are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and are high in calcium and magnesium (common nutrients that women are deficit in).
Most notable of chia seeds though is that they are high in soluble fiber, which helps you stay full for longer.
Whether regardless of whether you’re using breakfast smoothies as a meal replacement for weight loss or a heat avoidant strategy, blend on with this sweet treat.
